Title: something almost said // Artist: Emma Rich
about the piece
| This painting was done with Flashe on canvas and was inspired by Monet’s Poplar trees. Rather than painting from observation, I am imagining what this tree would look like in the harsh yet warm light at dawn. The bright reds and yellows of sunrise can symbolize new beginnings or rebirth. But with rebirth and early morning comes the acknowledgement of death or darkness in the dark blues and violets. Of course both are required to complete a cycle. |

Title: Poppies // Artist: Emma Rich
about the piece
| This painting was done with Flashe on canvas. With this piece I am exploring the ephemeral quality of a flower’s short life. The abstracted forms and translucent washes of paint represent the poppies’ ever-changing appearance throughout it’s life cycle. |
