Title: Chalk it up // Artist: A.J. Belmont

about the piece

This piece is a story of a tense conversation ending in the statement “just chalk it up to experience.” One person is represented sitting on steps, mouth hinged open; the other is represented by a chair and glasses.

My work is an exploration of memories and moments, communicated through representational abstraction of visual cues to what’s happening (rather than literal renderings of the space or situation). I usually begin with a series of sketches and I develop a simpler take and color palette from there.
