Title: Fallen Angels 12 // Artist: Roger Camp

about the piece

While working on my book, Butterflies in Flight, Thames & Hudson 2002, I had
numerous duplicate butterflies. It occurred to me that it might be interesting to
to make a collage of the hundreds of wings and press them under glass. This made it possible to photograph micro sections (slightly larger than a postage stamp) with a macro lens.

The juxtaposition of the various wings were endless in terms of color, shape, texture and overall design. (Note: No butterflies were harmed in the making of these images. All butterflies were harvested from the forest floor after dying naturally.)
