Title: moon repair // Artist: Ayçe Çelikel

about the piece

“moon repair” is an analogue collage made from images found in a magazine and a book, using only scissors and glue. My collaging process is intuitive and spontaneous. I rarely sit down with a specific idea in mind. I simply start making and see where the process takes me. I enjoy the freedom of this process. Collaging allows my restless mind to slow down, wander and experiment.

“moon repair” is one of my favourite pieces, perhaps because of my lifelong fondness for the moon, especially the full moon. I have a full moon tattoo, and the first syllable of my name, “Ay,” literally means “moon” in Turkish!
