Title: Methuselah // Artist: J.V. Foerster

about the piece

A few years back I lived on Mt Hood in Oregon. At the time I retreated to the forest and the mountain to grieve and heal from the death of my partner. It was a magical place to live. Each day a new creature would arrive and seemed unafraid of me. Then one day a large plump raven arrived. He strutted around on the deck like he owned it. Then he came everyday for weeks. One day I took out my camera and shot this photo of him. Later that day I sat on the deck only a few feet away from him and we ate walnuts together. This was my healing, in those moments me chatting about my sorrow to this ancient looking raven and he waddling around me on the deck like a visitor from a higher realm dancing my sorrow away.
