Title: Decay // Artist: Katie Hughbanks

about the piece

“Decay” is an underwater macro photograph that focuses on the impact of water, air, and light – primal elements we all need, a necessity that inextricably links us all. The subject is a dead daylily bloom that, even in its decay, appears delicately beautiful. The tiny air bubbles that cling to the flower’s translucent body hint that even in death, life in some way endures.
