| ‘Bihter With Coffee’ is a watercolour, pencil and ink painting. It’s in free-hand sketch form, done without looking at the painting itself, just the object-model. This is in order to capture the moment, and the energy of movement, hinting at the figure without intricately describing it. Painted in retrospect, Bihter is a friend from my ten years living in Istanbul (2004-2014) – a free-thinking, secular-minded, ambitious young Turkish woman, who subsequently travelled the world and now lives in Canada. |
