Title: Honor Her // Artist: Tristan Tuttle

about the piece

“Honor Her” is a mixed media collage, hand-pieced and glued onto a sheet of 5×7 cardstock. What appeals to me about this kind of work is that it is made from common materials, easily found and sourced. It’s compiled of images from old textbooks and the inside of security envelopes. The text is from a magazine article that has been redacted, leaving only the intended message, and combined with the image of a fearsome woman, the piece as a whole speaks to the power that women hold. Such power should be honored.
