Title: Hope Bubble // Artist: Katie Hughbanks
about the piece
| “Hope Bubble” is an underwater macro photo of the tip of a yellow dandelion. Upon first view, it may appear that the sphere on the petal is a water droplet – but it’s just the opposite: it’s an air bubble in the water. Light, air, and water come together to make a photo that is, I hope, pleasingly ethereal and otherworldly. I don’t want the viewer to realize the piece was taken in a sink in my powder room, but instead, the viewer might imagine it’s a dance of light, air, and water. Those three elements, vital for life, unite us all. |
