Title: Honey in My Tea // Artist: Amy Powell
about the piece
Honey in My Tea was created using ink pen and watercolor. It was inspired by the Juliet Ivy song “we’re all eating each other” and pulls the imagery from the song. I love the use of flowers and bones to convey our temporal existence and how everything continues after we’re gone.

Title: Lavender Mouse // Artist: Amy Powell
about the piece
Lavender Mouse was painted with both watercolor and metallic gold acrylic as well as being lined with ink pen. Occasionally, you just need to paint something that makes your mother want to tell her friends about you. The mouse’s name is Cricket. He wants me to be a children’s book illustrator.

Title: Vorpal Rabbit // Artist: Amy Powell
about the piece
Vorpal Rabbit was created with ink pen and watercolor. I attempted to blend the gentle and macabre to create something accessible yet unsettling. The word ‘vorpal’ is from the poem “Jabberwocky” by Lewis Carroll. It’s a nonsense word but alludes to a beheading, which felt appropriate upon completing the painting.
about the artist // Amy Powell

Amy Powell (she/her) is a watercolor illustrator inspired by the delicate wild. Originally from Michigan and transplanted in Colorado, her love for both landscapes colors her paintings. She graduated with a completely worthless art degree from a college that doesn’t deserve to be named. Yet, mostly out of spite, she has become a full-time artist and a member of the most incredible group studio: Good Bones.
