Title: Mountain Goat Rave // Artist: Karen Parker
about the piece
| This piece was born after a hike in the North Cascades. I encountered a group of goats on a hillside and of course some ravens doing their thing: chatting up a storm. I build each piece on rock stacks because I love rocks. They are also a good vehicle for creating these ecosystem stories as geology influences biology— and how nature requires a fine balance. This particular design was inspired by the interesting geology and striated rocks I observed on this hike as well. |
about the artist // Karen Parker

| Karen’s (she/her) affinity for the natural world inspires her work; however, it was mid-life when she picked up a paintbrush. She has led a mobile life, living in five western states, which has broadened her horizons and sense of place. She currently lives in Sequim, Washington. Karen studied Park Management; however, she sought out mentorship programs, videos, and books to develop her painting skills. Karen’s work has been shown in juried exhibitions, art festivals, and galleries throughout the country. Using watercolor as her medium, she carefully balances bold color with simple design to create a sense of calm for the viewer. |
