one
by Rory Meyer
i had waited
so long
for a
single
positive test,
that the clocks
had begun
dripping
numbers
from their faces,
while i dripped
drops
of urine
onto test cartridges,
pleading aloud,
“please, hurry up.”
but as the lines faded in
and out,
i couldn’t be sure whether
time was coming
or going,
as it all
blurred into
one.
