First illustration of a series exploring the myth of Persephone, the Greek deity of hell and spring. This piece focuses of the ambiguity of her emotions, torn apart between her role as the queen of the underworld and her love for her mother, Demeter, and the world of the living.

about the artist // Rachel Blackline

Rachel Blackline, is a french illustrator who have always been drawn to drawing during her childhood. As a teenager, she was strongly influenced by Surrealism. But, unable to find a style that suited her, she chose to study art. It was only after maturing and traveling to discover herself that she started drawing again. That is when, she was finally able to discover her evolution and a style that suited her. Rachel Blackline’s work explores the woman body and marine creatures, often associated with floral elements, between light and darkness, dreams and nightmares.
