Title: Sleepwalking // Artist: Kim Arthurs
about the piece
| “Sleepwalking” is a Cyanotype crafted with botanicals grown from the artist’s garden and foraged from walks in the woods. The Cyanotype process is a historical, alternative photographic blueprint process that uses ultraviolet light-sensitive iron salts, and produces a negative of an object or image through contact-printing, using sunlight as the source of exposure, and developing the image in water. This elemental process deeply resonates with the artist, who blends their water sign personality with a passion for horticulture, and finds therapeutic influence in growing botanicals and tending to their garden every season. The artist uses their garden as a source for botanicals to reimagine into art, and prints their artwork in the garden in sunlight. |
