about the piece
| Collage is a place where I process grief, explore paradox, and work to alchemize the scraps of life into something meaningful. All of my collages were born and live inside an old book of poetry I found on a used bookstore shelf years ago. The book itself has become an ever-evolving collection of art. The Seed is composed of mixed papers, photographs, and drawings. This piece emerged from the pain of experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. It is my hope that those who have experienced loss in any form may find some solace in my work. |
about the artist // Heidi Neff
| Heidi Neff (she/her) is a therapist, artist, yoga teacher, and mother of twins. Originally from Paradise, Pennsylvania, she has lived in the high desert of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 2010. Her work has appeared in Bending Genres and Sala Writer’s Group Zine, and is forthcoming in About Place Journal. She finds great delight in nature, and walks barefoot whenever possible. |
